PRO INSTALLATION TIPS
General Tips
-
Be sure to follow the
instructions provided with the product or available on our website.
-
Maintain (transport
& store) the
fence components on a flat surface to prevent bending and
twisting.
-
If TimberWolf®
Fencing distorts due to improper storage, it can be bent back into
shape by applying pressure to re-straighten.
-
TimberWolf®
cuts like wood…coarse-toothed saw blades will minimize clogging.
-
If it becomes
necessary to
clean TimberWolf® Composite Fencing, use a power washer or, on tougher stains, a mild solution of detergent,
such as Tri-Sodium Phosphate (TSP) with a stiff nylon brush.
-
TimberWolf®
Composite Fencing CAN be painted with high quality exterior primer and
top coat. However, it is not recommended to paint, since painting
will require regular maintenance, defeating a major benefit of
TimberWolf® Composite Fencing and will void the warranty.
Tips for Setting Posts
-
Maintain a maximum of
72” post center to post center.
-
Be
sure to
use the correct diameter and thickness of steel pipe.
(Use a 2 3/8” OD x 8’
long pipe ONLY for the 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” x 75” composite sleeve and a 2
7/8” OD x 8’ long pipe ONLY for the 4” x4” posts.)
-
Confirm the pipe is
vertical in both planes.
-
Mix
concrete with as little water as possible…a soupy mix increases the
difficulty in maintaining posts level while concrete sets. Allow
sufficient time for concrete to set ~ 24 hours.
-
Sleeve
the TimberWolf® Composite Post sleeve over the steel pipe,
anchor with two tap screws.
-
Make
certain the footing is designed for the local conditions.
Adjust post hole depths to frost line and soil bearing requirements
-
Fence footings should
not exceed legally established property lines … consult real estate
agents line plot or a professional surveyor.
-
Consult local
building codes and building permits, as well as obtain proper permits.
-
Consult local utility
companies for locations of underground cables or pipelines.
Tips for Attaching Rails
-
Double check that the
rail brackets are vertical and the same distance from the back of the
post at each location.
-
Backer rails must never be more than eight inches (8”) from the top or
bottom of
the
pickets
-
Backer rails must
never be spaced more than thirty-four inches (34”) apart.
Use an additional rail if necessary.
-
Attach
3
backer rails
on a six foot high fence with brackets to the posts or use the face
mount option, with or without brackets. Leave a
small (1/8”) gap between the ends of the backer rails and the posts.
Tips for Attaching Pickets
-
Apply small bead of TimberWolf® adhesive to all backer rails before attaching the pickets with screws, nails or
staples.
-
Attach each fence board with exterior fasteners (screws, nails, staples) – 2 per rail, for a total of 6
per board.
Tips for Gates
-
Use
Heavy Duty Gate Hardware
or TimberWolf™ Heavy Duty Gate Kit (all hardware included to
build a walk or drive gate)
